I took on the ambitious task of completely redesigning over 30 gun types from the game PAYDAY 2. Let me tell you, it was no small feat! I dedicated an entire month to this project, and I'm not exaggerating. I immersed myself in the world of guns, spending countless hours reading up on different firearms, watching YouTube videos to observe how people handle various guns, and carefully studying the sounds they make. It was a deep dive into the intricate details of each weapon. I even created a mood board because of this. Now, I invite you to take a moment to listen to my work.

-- The Idea:

The goal was to ensure that each firearm and movement produced a distinct, natural, and "raw" sound during firing and reloading without much processing.

-- The Process:

1. To complete this project, I chose to use Krotos Weaponizer to create individual layers for each weapon. Additionally, I recorded some foley sounds using a light and a heavy jacket to replicate various cloth movements for each gun during the character's reload sequences. I then utilized Krotos Reformer PRO to activate the audio for each animation.

(The cloth movement is subtle but is there! Use headphones🎧👀)

2. One valuable insight I had that significantly aided in the process was initially developing the audio reload for each weapon before working on the firing animations. This approach allowed me to imbue each gun with its distinct attributes, such as weight, which subsequently influenced the sound produced when fired.

3. I had never dealt with this type of work before, so you can probably imagine how my Reaper session looked while creating audio for all these guns. What I'm trying to say is that organization matters. My session was massive, and I spent a lot of time organizing things. Thanks to Reaper for the Render Matrix feature! 👻

4. I dedicated significant effort to optimizing LUFs and stereo imaging while working with IRS (Impulse Responses) to ensure consistent audio quality throughout the entire design process, with a focus on accurately capturing each gun's true peaks and the session as a whole.

-- The Plugins:

Alongside Krotos Software a few deserved names on this list are BOOM Library's ReCenter (Amazing stereo correction!), oeksound's Soothe2 (Resonances Suppressor), Kilohearts Essentials, and other cool plugins. All of these really made a difference!
